Animated Title Card & Credits
Overview
I created the title card and end credits for Try a Waffle Cone, a romantic short film shot in Austin, Texas. The Director brought me on to add a sprinkle of whimsy that captured the film’s playful, slightly cheeky spirit.
Inspired by our shared love of Wes Anderson’s aesthetic and Austin’s iconic food truck branding, I designed a clean, vintage-style title card that nods to chain stitching and hand-painted signage. For the credits, I carried that same charm into animation, featuring a hand with melting ice cream (a wink to the film’s recurring innuendo). Both pieces were animated in After Effects, blending smooth motion with a hand-drawn wiggle for that imperfect, human touch that keeps the visuals just as sweet and unexpected as the story.

The Mood
The Title Card
The title card? Simple, clean, and all the vintage Austin charm, with type that calls to mind chain stitching and hand-painted signs. For the credits, we knew we needed something that would blend seamlessly with the type, so it was a no-brainer to animate a hand with ice cream dripping down—because why not throw in a cheeky little nod to the film’s recurring ice cream motif (ahem, innuendo)? This quirky animation makes sure the ending is as sweet and unexpected as the story itself.
Both the title card and credits were animated in After Effects, giving them that quick, fluid motion that matches the film’s energetic vibe, all while keeping that lovely hand-drawn wiggle that adds the perfect touch of whimsy.
